IRA STANPHILL  (1914-1993)

Known for writing: “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow,” and other favorites.

Title of autobiography: This Side of Heaven.

Beginning of Ira Stanphill post: “Ira Stanphill was one of Christian music’s most outstanding talents of the 2oth Century. During his life, he traveled throughout the United States and in 40 countries, preaching and singing the songs he’d written. Many of his songs have been published in other languages. The depth of his lyrics continue to reverberate in people’s hearts around the world.”

JOHN W. PETERSON  (1921-2006)

Known for writing: “Surely Goodness and Mercy,” “It Took A Miracle,” and other favorites.

Title of autobiography: The Miracle Goes On.

Beginning of John W. Peterson post: “In 1940 John traveled and sang with two of his brothers as the Norse Gospel Trio. One night between Wichita and Lincoln, Kansas, a tanker truck heading their way crossed the center line. It hit them head-on. The collision destroyed their car, but the three Peterson brothers walked away with minor injuries.”

ELISHA HOFFMAN  (1839-1929)

Known for writing: “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” “Are You Washed in the Blood?” and other favorites.
